... and before I wussed out and made us bail because I knew my crappy Buick was never going to get out of that hilly parking lock after the rain came.
The video's a better view than we had, that's for damned sure. But hey, I think you can see us in the shots from over the drummer's shoulder.
Oh, uh, embedding disabled by request, but here's the link.
If you ever let me drag you to a show, thanks, dare I say it, for the memories!

Ah, *that* show! Yes, Tom and I were there...in the rain...freezing our asses off.
I was determined to stay because it was my first (and alas, lastand only) Dead show. But we bailed, too, just a few numbers in because we were soaked to the skin, and--as I recall--a nasty cold front had come in with the rain and it got very chilly and windy. A bad combo.
Still (oddly), good memories!
And the Dead covered the Beatles' "Rain." And then we started driving the truck to Colorado the next day.
That's one of two shows I left early; the other was April 7, 1995 ... left during the encore. If I had known that this would be the last time, I think I would have stayed.

Ok - I can admit now that I've suffered years of guilt and regret over that show. I always felt that I convinced you to leave and that if I hadn't been such a wimp we would have stayed and seen what would have been our last GD show.
And Rose, "cold front" is an understatement. Here in Michigan we call it an "arctic blast."
My recollection is that *I* wanted to leave. I was picturing a mudbath a la Woodstock, only with cars, not naked hairy hippies.
As I recall (and yes, Tim, that's kind of a joke), the ride home from Auburn Hills was more eventful, even without the rain.
Good! I feel much better - it was all your fault.
Hmm, Auburn Hills. Was that the concert after which I stopped for gas at a gas station that had just been robbed minutes ago? And then there was that nice conversation with the local constabulary just over the Ohio border.
I had forgotten about the gas station, but I remember the cop stop quite vividly.
Thanks, Tim, for confirming that it wasn't just "chilly," but damned cold. I've always felt wimpy for leaving, too, but my recollection was that I'd end up being hospitalized for hypothermia if I didn't get out of there. I suppose a true Dead fan would've brought along a rain suit, or a tent, or something. Or have been too wigged out on something to even notice that it was raining.
BTW: Hi Tim! Great to see you here! Hope all is well in MI.
